If your interested in makeup styling or having your makeup done for any type of occasion please feel free to contact me by email, phone or post to this blog. My business card is posted at the top of this site with all of my current contact information. I love doing my own makeup and I'm always reading up on techniques and new products. I'm a published artist!!!

I had very exciting news awhile back when a photographer that I got to work with told me that we were going to do a pin-up style theme photo shoot. Well then last month I learned that he had submitted photos to a magazine and today officially the magazine was release!! So in celebration I figured I would share some photos and of course where to find the magazine!!

My makeup is going to be in a magazine!!

Yesterday I got great news, my makeup and hair designs will be in a magazine called Pinned Up Magazine. Although they are a brand new magazine and this is their very first issue (due to come out in October) I'm still very excited because for me it's just another way that my art is going to be seen :)

Newest makeup/cosmetics purchases

So I've been doing a lot of reseach and been taking some serious time to learn from others like myself who love makeup and cosmetics. I feel like the more and more I work as a Makeup Artist there are two really big things that make a difference in my performance and work. First is the quality of my products, I've taken some time to save up so I could buy makeup and other cosmetic products from well known companies, such as Inglot, Makeup 4 Ever, MAC, Makeup Studio, Sugarpill Cosmetics, and so many others. The second most important thing is finding the right models and camera for building portfolios. This second part has been the hardest. I'm currently working on getting a new camera/camcorder so I can finally start with some tutorials.

I've also come to realize that I love the makeup community. I've gotten some really good tips from fellow bloggers, tutorials, instructors and just other makeup enthusiests.

Anyways.. enough of what I've learned, my main focus now is to figure out what people want to see and learn from that hopefully I can provide for them. If you have suggestions or questions that I can blog for you please let me know in the comments below, and if you have any suggestions or blogs that you follow that you think I should look at please let me know. This is a learning journey for me and I can't wait to explore more and hopefully branch out from what I already know...

Oh and last but not least, I just updated my slideshow so check it out and let me know what you think!! :)

growing my business!!

So after a long break from doing work within my business, I am now going to explode back into growing Candy's Makeup Design. I am working on possibly developing my own makeup line and possibly even skin care line! I have been dreaming of being able to not only do makeup, but be able to put my name behind everything that I use. This is just the beginning stages but I'm beyond excited and hope to get a following who will be able to sample and test my new products.

There is a lot of legal aspects to this so that is going to be the longest and most confusing part of this growth but I look forward to learning more about the business world. I'm also extremely lucky to be able to have a wonderful support system in this process.

I would love to know everyone's opinion on a new makeup/cosmetics line! :) And as things move further along I'll need opinions on design, colors, and texture so feel free to contact me.

The new year

So even though it's past halfway through the first month of the new year I am finally going to do some after Holiday shopping. So there will be new pictures to come along with the ones that I just put up! I am going to be looking for new foundation for my clients, I do use traditional liquid foundation. I personally feel that it gives the most build-able coverage while still giving a natural look, I have tried mineral make-up in my past portfolio and did not like the out come with pictures and it doesn't seem to last nearly as long as I would like for both everyday use and for more "special occasions". I am looking for more models to add to my portfolio so if you are interested and near by please feel free to contact me.

I am starting to learn more about eyebrows and eyelash enhancement so if you are interested let me know, I do no wax! I pluck I believe it allows me to have more control and also allows me to have more control of the overall effect when styling/stenciling eyebrows. I also think that plucking causes less irritation and redness and also is less painful but again this is just my believe and way of doing things. I hope to have more pictures to come!
